Tim Farnham

VP Subsurface

As a geologist with 20+ years’ experience, Tim Farnham has delivered highly successful exploration and development projects in North America, Asia, and Australia.  He has worked at a range of companies, including Shell, BG Group, and independents focused on conventional deepwater and unconventional resource plays.  Tim has planned and executed over 100 wells in multiple basins throughout the United States, adding 100MMBOE+ reserves and over $30Bn in value.


At Shell, he led both unconventional and conventional exploration teams focused on portfolio rationalization and new ventures in Australia, the eastern Gulf of Mexico, and Ukraine. 


At BG Group, he was subject matter expert for the Rocky Mountains and led an exploration team responsible for establishing new basin entries for portfolio growth. 


Prior to joining BG Group, Tim led exploration and development teams at select companies, where he managed multiple rig lines developing unconventional resource plays in a variety of basins in North America.


Tim holds a MS in Geological Sciences from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a BA in History and Geology from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
