Martijn Dekker

Managing Partner

Mr. Dekker is co-founder and managing partner at Aurivos. He is a strategic business executive with expertise in the energy industry in leadership positions covering all aspects of upstream oil and gas and developing clean energy strategies and has a strong track record of collaboration, innovation and delivering value for all stakeholders.
Prior to founding Aurivos, Mr. Dekker was Vice-President Strategy & Portfolio at Shell where he led the development of Shell’s hydrogen strategy, carbon offsets strategy, development, and implementation of digitalization strategy and refreshing the technology strategy and portfolio. Previously Mr. Dekker held various technical and business roles in Shell’s Upstream business, including Vice President  Growth & Appraisal for the Americas, Development Manager for GoM Stones project and development lead for GoM Perdido project

Scot Fraser

Managing Partner

Mr. Fraser  is co-founder and managing partner at Aurivos. He is a multi-billion barrel oil-finder with 25+ years of industry experience in a variety of technical and E&P (Asset-management, Divestment, Partnerships/Negotiation, Business Development and Strategy) leadership roles primarily with Shell International E&P, Cobalt International L.P., and Amerada Hess.  He has been consistently responsible for defining and originating business growth and executing high-impact projects.
Since leaving Shell in 2017 he established Ventura International Energy LLC where has originated new business M&A proposals whist developing new fiscal/economic energy policy for emerging and OPEC+ governments.  He has also provided leadership for developing low-carbon energy solutions for developing nations.  He continues to advise boards, Investment Banks and PE firms on M&A activities.  In addition, he has advised on emerging new business opportunities stimulated by socially responsible public and private investment driven by the Paris Climate Targets.

Humberto Sirvent

Managing Partner

Mr. Sirvent has 13 years of experience and a strong background as an energy investment banker concentrating on E&P, oilfield services, power and renewables. Over the past five years he has participated in M&A and has raised capital and originated $1.8 billion worth of projects in the energy sector.
Mr. Sirvent’s valuable work expertise includes Institutional Credit and Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch and UBS Financial Services for over ten years, where he managed over $2.5 billion of client assets. He is also a co-owner of Clearinghouse Securities, LLC (FINRA broker/dealer #35192).
Mr. Sirvent holds a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. He maintains Series 7, 24, 31, 63, and 66 FINRA securities licenses.

Daniel Benedict

Operations Director

Mr. Benedict is a production and reservoir engineer with 15 years of experience that has worked for Citation Oil & Gas, Double Eagle Petroleum, the Aspen Companies and Baker Hughes and has previously managed production and enhancement programs in Texas, Colorado and Utah.  Most recently, Mr. Benedict was at Iskandia Energy Operating where he was instrumental in executing 120+ quick-hit projects improving the company production by 500+ boepd in a 16-month period.
Mr. Benedict has a BS and an MS in Petroleum Engineering, from Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado.

Sabi Balkanyi

Technical Director

Mr. Balkanyi is an Oil and Gas professional with 21 years of experience with evaluating and developing offshore oil and gas projects with major and independent operators. Most recently, Mr. Balkanyi was the Director of Reservoir Engineering at Beacon Offshore Energy, a Blackstone portfolio company focused on exploration and production in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. At Beacon he was instrumental setting up the company’s technical capabilities and grow the company to become a deepwater operator. Prior to this, Mr. Balkanyi fulfilled various engineering leadership roles at Freeport McMoRan and Maersk Oil, and engineering roles at Shell.
Mr. Balkanyi has MSc. in Aerospace Engineering degrees from the University of Michigan and Delft University of Technology and an MBA with highest honors from Booth School of Business at The University of Chicago.

Luis Roca

Head of Finance

Mr. Roca has 18 years of energy finance experience primarily working with PE and Public companies. Built finance teams from the ground up, raised debt and equity, started and successfully exited PE ventures. Mr. Roca started his career started in public accounting and later moved on to focus on senior finance roles at Cemex, Engie, Deep Gulf Energy, Pacific Drilling, and ION Geophysical.
Mr. Roca is a licensed CPA in the state of Texas and has a BBA in Accounting and BS in Computer Science from St. Edwards University and an MBA from Rice University.

Samuel Allen

General Counsel

Sam Allen has over 35 years of corporate finance and securities law experience. He represents issuers and underwriters in public offerings and private placements of debt, equity and hybrid securities. He has represented clients in corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and proceedings before the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also assists start-up companies in corporate structure and organizational matters.
From 1982 until 1990, he was in the corporate finance section of Brown and Wood (now Sidley & Austin) in New York. From 1990 until 2011, he was a partner in the corporate finance group at Porter Hedges, LLP, in Houston, Texas. While at Porter Hedges, Sam was named as a “Texas Super Lawyer” in corporate finance. He has been in private practice since 2011. In addition to his general clientele, Sam currently serves as General Counsel to Aurivos, LLC, and its affiliates. Sam has a BA in English and Philosophy from the University of Mississippi and a JD from the Washington and Lee School of Law, where he was Executive Editor of the Washington and Lee Law Review.

Ondrej Sestak

Director Special Projects

Ondrej Sestak has a broad range of experience across the energy and finance sectors. First as a reservoir engineer for Shell, where he developed forecasts, reserve reports, and subsurface models in the Haynesville shale and Vaca Muerta basin. He then worked as an analyst at a private equity firm, Odien Group in Prague, researching and developing material for a €750 million investment portfolio.
Since 2018 he has been working with INEXS to value oil and gas assets, develop original investment opportunities, and perform technical and financial evaluations of energy projects. Including Helium development, blue hydrogen generation, enhanced oil recovery, and carbon capture and utilization. In addition to these technical projects, he is the director of operations for GLT Corporation, sourcing and exporting commodities for a portfolio of Chinese clients, and serving on the advisory board for a recently funded SPAC.
Ondrej has a Master of Science degree in Energy Resource Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers

Diane Nielsen

Director Investor Relations

Ms. Nielsen serves as the client contact for established investors of the company. She also provides executive level support to the CEO, including investment and corporate banking correspondence, human resources functions, and serves as a liaison with external support teams and field offices.
Prior to joining the team, Ms. Nielsen worked for over 10 years at Falcon Seaboard, a privately-held family oil and gas investment company, providing executive level administrative and financial support to former Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, now Chairman and CEO, and Gene Dewhurst, Partner and Vice President. During her tenure at Falcon Seaboard, from 2006-2014, she also served as an executive assistant to Governor Dewhurst and liaised daily with Capitol staff (Austin).
Ms. Nielsen began her career at Conoco, now ConocoPhillips, in their Philanthropy and Community Affairs department where she organized more than 25 special events annually and served as community multicultural liaison. Ms. Nielsen holds a B.A. from Hope College, a private Christian liberal arts college in Holland, Michigan.
