Sabi Balkanyi

Technical Director

Mr. Balkanyi is an Oil and Gas professional with 21 years of experience with evaluating and developing offshore oil and gas projects with major and independent operators. Most recently, Mr. Balkanyi was the Director of Reservoir Engineering at Beacon Offshore Energy, a Blackstone portfolio company focused on exploration and production in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. At Beacon he was instrumental setting up the company’s technical capabilities and grow the company to become a deepwater operator.

Prior to this, Mr. Balkanyi fulfilled various engineering leadership roles at Freeport McMoRan and Maersk Oil, and engineering roles at Shell. Mr. Balkanyi has MSc. in Aerospace Engineering degrees from the University of Michigan and Delft University of Technology and an MBA with highest honors from Booth School of Business at The University of Chicago.
